As so many of my F1 pupils are coming in still working within the 22-36 month development band, I thought I'd make an additional set of these Learning Journey assessment cards with the statements taken from Development Matters 2012.

Listen and silent are spelt with the same letters quotation. Linked to What the Ladybird Heard by Julia Donaldson, so great for use when learning about good listening skills, as well as animals topics, especially farm animals

Based on ABC Does' blog posts this week on Dough Gym, but in PowerPoint form for staff training and parent workshops. Includes gross motor and fine motor development, ideas on how to create a dough gym, additional &'funky fingers&'; ideas for child initiated activities to improve fine motor control, and malleable material recipes/ideas.

3 different categories: best in show, agility (obstacle course/tricks) and obedience. Certificates made for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, so can bring in ordinal numbers. I will also be uploading a generic participation certificate, so everyone gets something for joining in!

A simple assessment sheet to be carried out at the end of every half term or term to track progress across the ages and stages of development within the EYFS. Useful to track Profile achievement towards the ELGs, prior to June formal Profile assessments. I have attached an image of a completed page, with some comments added, as I did to summarise the Profile before completing reports. Very useful for team meetings and discussions with LA or SLT to show CPD/staffing needs as well as progress made. Please also see my Tracker spreadsheet!

An Excel spreadsheet set up to record ages and stages of development within the EYFS. Mainly designed for Nursery children, although can also be used initially to track progress of Reception children also. Quick easy to see children on track, working above and below (1 or 2+ development bands) for staff CPD as well as focus children. Please also see my Tracker moderation to split ages and stages into beginning, Developing and Secure - useful for tracking progress across terms and the year, especially for Reception F2.

The Leuven scales for well-being and involvement. Useful to assist with EYFS summative assessments, alongside a learning and development tracker and characteristics of effective learning. Specifies the levels of engagement and emotion displayed within the setting.

iPod/iPad themed activity for transition day. Children to design their own iPod/iPad apps to describe themselves as a person. Could then be used as a first display in the class, ready before they start in September. Differentiated so suitable from EYFS up to upper KS2. Idea taken from Pinterest, but updated to include differentiation across the primary age.
